Faces of Bowie

Types: Doodle

Series of vector-style portraits of David Bowie in his many different personas. This was a project I ended up hand-making into a set of coasters for my girlfriend, who is a big Bowie fan. Done in Illustrator CC October 2018.

Dungeons & Dragons Classes

Types: Doodle

Series of vector-style illustrations portraying each of the twelve character classes for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. Really fun experimenting with shape language and color schemes in these pieces. Really proud of the pose on the Ranger and the Monk, and am particularly proud of the magical green smoke surrounding the Sorcerer. Done in Illustrator CC October 2018.

nate.

Types: Doodle

Illustration based on a photo of one of my friends. I wanted to practice using custom chiseled Illustrator brushes and experimenting with pop art-y colors. Very pleased with the result. Done in Illustrator March 2019.

McElroy Brothers

Types: Doodle

A quick doodle that turned into a pretty satisfying full-color piece! I’m a big fan of the MBMBaM podcast, and drawing the boys is a great way to get over art block. Done in Photoshop CC April 2019.

The Doctor(s)

Types: Doodle

Series of vector-style illustrations of each of the 14 actors to portray The Doctor in the BBC series Doctor Who. Had a lot of fun experimenting with pushing expressions and features. Fun playing with colors too. Done in Illustrator CC Spring 2019.

Self Portrait Anthology

Types: Doodle

Series of self portraits I did based on an idea I had when I was in high school – trying to capture the personality of each year of my life in a caricature (this one is only the past four years, obviously). Really enjoyed working on drawing fabric more realistically and working with patterns and textures for those fabrics. Done in Illustrator May 2019.

Brick House

Types: Doodle

A scrapped asset from a poster design for work that I never ended up using. I liked the look so much I ended up finishing it in my free time and making it into its own piece. Wanted to practice drawing buildings. Done in Illustrator CC September 2019.

Student Activities Marketing Package

Types: Graphic Design

When I was hired to be the first in-house designer for Temple’s Student Activities Department, one of my first projects was to develop a marketing package. The client was looking to unify the brand image, and present more professionally in a way that was appropriate for a big state school. I created a thorough brand…

In the summer of 2020, during a pandemic-induced hiring freeze, Michael turned to the internet to get work, and began freelancing as a character designer and illustrator. Who’d have thought people liked having their Dungeons & Dragons characters drawn so much!? This is a gallery of some of Michael’s favorite D&D character design pieces from that summer. June – September 2020.

Student Work

Types: Graphic Design

STUDENT WORK These are some of my favorite graphic design projects I did non-professionally, either for school, as a project for a friend, or otherwise. “Where’s My Phone?” Poster Design Dec 2015 | Recolored Jan 2020 This was a one-act play that a friend of mine wrote and directed. It’s about a guy who loses…

Great Big Digital Agency

Types: Branding, Graphic Design, Illustration

Great Big Digital Agency is a boutique agency that helps companies improve their online presence through both technical and creative means. They pride themselves on being the intersection between the left and right brain, and that intersection rests at the core of their brand image. In the summer of 2020, I joined the team at…

Corvus & Mork

Types: Illustration
Tags: Commission, dnd

A commission I did for two friends of mine. It depicts their Dungeons & Dragons characters, Corvus and Mork, a dynamic duo of brains and brawn.

D&D Party Commission

Types: Illustration
Tags: Commission, dnd

This piece was commissioned by a Dungeon Master who found me on Fiverr and wanted to give his players a nice Christmas gift – a fully rendered illustrated group portrait of their characters! My favorite part about doing commissions is that the client already has a lot of reference material to provide. The players have an image in their head already, they just want me to draw it. That’s why you get such strange characters like these folks. I don’t make em up, I just draw em!

The Batemans

Types: Doodle

An art piece I made as a Christmas gift for my uncle. It depicts my paternal grandparents and all of their children, as they were when they were growing up. (He liked it)
