The Batemans

Doodle

December 2021

An art piece I made as a Christmas gift for my uncle. It depicts my paternal grandparents and all of their children, as they were when they were growing up. (He liked it)

I was really inspired by 60s cartoons for this piece, I wanted to capture the feel of those old Hanna Barbera cartoons, since shows like The Flintstones and The Jetsons had such a strong familial element to them.

I also tried experimenting with some four-color printing techniques, namely halftones, like they used to use for old comic books (fun fact, there is no green in this illustration!). I thought that would lend itself well to this old-school art style I went for, and I’m really pleased with how it turned out!
