Dungeons & Dragons Classes

Doodle

October 2018

Series of vector-style illustrations portraying each of the twelve character classes for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.

This was just a fun little project I did where I wanted to create iconic designs for the D&D classes. I wanted them to be simple designs with simple shapes and simple colors, but still entirely recognizable. It was extremely fun experimenting with shape language, silhouettes and color schemes in these pieces.

I am particularly proud of the poses on the Ranger and the Monk. The Ranger looks so serious standing there, arrow knocked, with his wolf companion at his side. I think the pose really lends to that class’s characterization: that of an outdoorsy loner. The monk was tricky because I wanted an acrobatic pose, but I was trying to keep the shape language as simple as possible. The monk pose was a compromise between the two, and I think it works.

I also really like the magical green smoke surrounding the Sorcerer. Really gives him some contrast and mystique, which again, helps characterize the class.
